Nitin Gadkari launches development projects in Goa

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for six national highway projects in Goa worth Rs 3,840 crore.

The four Lane National Highway from Karaswada to Bambolim and the four Lane National Highway Project from Patradevi to Karaswada are among the projects dedicated to the nation.

While the 13 km Karaswada to Bambolim stretch of NH 66 was developed for Rs 853 crore, the 18 km Patradevi to Karaswada stretch of NH 66 cost Rs 634 crore to construct.

Margao Wester Bypass developed for Rs 354 crore, and Port Connectivity Road Loop one, developed for Rs 546 crore, were the other projects dedicated to the nation.

Construction of the Mopa Airport Connectivity Road, which will cost Rs 1183 crore, construction of observatory towers on the Zuari Bridge on NH 66, and six Central Road Infrastructure Fund projects totalling Rs 80 crore were among the projects for which the foundation stone was laid.

Gadkari said that the centre has given Rs 22,000 crore to Goa for various development projects since 2014 and that the state requires a two-engine government.

Gadkari informed that the state-of-the-art bridge being built across the Zuari River would be one of the best in the world.

He said that the Eiffel Tower will be the inspiration for the tower. A mobile restaurant will be set up, and visitors will be able to visit the capsule lift by boat.

The event was attended by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, his cabinet colleagues, and several MLAs.
